VJ Chitra Suicide: Foul Play Suspected In Tamil Actress’ Death, Husband Gets Investigated
The year 2020 could easily be termed as the bearer of bad news after the kind of tragedies we have witnessed. From losing millions of lives to Covid, to having our mental health take a big hit in this lockdown, there has been a lot that we’ve lost this year. And among that, there has been the shocking number of suicide cases that have come to the fore. The dialogue opened with the untimely death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and hasn’t closed since. More cases of actors allegedly dying by suicide have come up, some with possible suspicions of foul play, like in the case Tamil TV actor VJ Chitra. Her death is under investigation after her family and friends suggested that her husband, Hemnath might allegedly be responsible.
The Tamilian actress was recently found hanging in a hotel room in Chennai, near the EVP film city where she had been shooting for a project. Her case is now being interrogated on the claims that her husband, Hemnath, may have had something to do with her demise.
A probe demanded by the friends and family of VJ Chitra has revealed that there had been a row between the couple over intimate scenes that Chitra would have to shoot in her line of work. It was revealed through reports and sources that the two got into a nasty argument over the same on the very day of her suicide.

Reports also share that Hemnath dropped by on the sets of Pandian Stores and scolded her and that he had pushed her too. The couple had only been married for two months and were supposed to plan a traditional wedding and reception in January.
As of now Chitra’s mother has claimed that her daughter wouldn’t have hanged herself and demanded a fair probe. The police, meanwhile, have arrested Hemnath and produced him at the Poonamalle High Court. After being interrogated for six days, Hemnath has been lodged in the Ponneri Jail after being booked under Section 306 of IPC (Indian Penal Code). In fact, when VJ Chitra’s body was found hanging, there were also marks found on her cheeks, basis of which the police may have ascertained that they gathered enough proof against the husband for an arrest.
This also won’t be the first time, that after the suicide of a woman, abuse from her husband has come out in the open. Something similar happened quite recently when upon the death of actress Divya Bhatnagar, it was revealed that her husband Gagan Gabru had been abusing her in their marriage. If anything, it opens a big dialogue as to what may have led the person to choose suicide in the first place.
