Bengaluru Woman Gets A Fractured Nose From Food Delivery Guy
Up until now, we’ve heard stories about women getting attacked any and everywhere. From tragic encounters on the road, at workplaces, behind closed doors, in public transportation, women aren’t safe anywhere. And adding to that long list of dangerous places and activities for women is now ordering food online, which now comes with a bumper offer of assault. We say this after a delivery boy has recently been accused of hitting a woman customer in Bangalore, while delivering her order.
Brought to our notice through a very disturbing and moving video posted on social media, this is the story of Hitesha Chandranee, a content creator from Bangalore who was attacked by her Zomato delivery guy on Wednesday, and punched in the face so hard, it broke her nose.
The video that went viral within hours of being uploaded online, showed Hitesha in the frame, with a frightened look on her face and bloody nose, trying to recall the events that preceded the assault. She mentioned how she placed an order with the app at around 3:20 pm, but almost an hour had passed and she still hadn’t received it.

She contacted the support desk at Zomato, asking them for options to either cancel the order or take the food that was on its way back. While she was still speaking to the customer care executive, the delivery boy arrived. As she took the order from him and requested him to wait till she finished talking to the customer care guy, she claims that the guy started hurtling abuses at her.
She shared, ““He started screaming at me, saying ‘Am I a slave or what? You are asking me to wait here.’ It was really threatening for me. I tried to shut my door but he pushed the door, took my order from the table by entering my home, punched me in my face and ran away.”
The woman, who could clearly be seen hurt and bleeding in the video, ended up getting a nasal fracture. She shared, “I was given high-power antibiotics and painkillers because of which I am able to talk… My eyes water and my nose bleed as soon as I start talking.” And the fact that a delivery guy, whom we trust the company to whet before employing and sending off to people’s houses, would do that to a woman is as frightening as it gets. Because if one can do this, what is stopping him from doing something worse the next time?
There can be other side to the story as well. If you are hearing the woman's side, then hear from the delivery guy's side also. #Zomato

It seems very unlikely that a zomato executive will come and hit u just like that..there is something more to the story..Nonetheless whatever the reason is no one is allowed to hit someone…We should hear both sides before passing on a judgement. @zomatocare #Zomato

Upon investigation however, the delivery guy presented a different version of the story. Police said, “According to him, he wanted to hand over the food and get on with another delivery. The woman demanded a refund, which was beyond his capacity. As she refused to accept the order, there was a verbal altercation. When she tried to hit him with her sandals, he pushed her in self-defence, which resulted in the injury.”
Meanwhile, Zomato which was tagged in all of Hitesha’s videos, has issued an apology for the actions of the delivery guy. They said, “We deeply regret this incident and apologise to Hitesha for this traumatic experience. We are in touch with her and are providing our complete support through the necessary medical care and investigation. Meanwhile, we have delisted the delivery partner from our platform.”
