Ayushmann Khurrana Wants The Best Actress Award For Dream Girl. We Think He Deserves It!

At this point in my life, I can say I trust Ayushmann Khurrana’s choices more than those of my parents’. I actually, kinda haven’t trusted their choices anyway but you get the drift, right? Today, I will watch any movie that he is in – because I know that it will be a good one! From Vicky Donor, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Bareilly Ki Barfi to Badhaai Ho and Andhadhun, I have come to the conclusion that he has an innate sense of what works. His movies have the most original humour and a plot that has the most bizarre situations. Top it with his comic timing, and you’d have to try hard  to not fall off the seat while laughing like a maniac. So, I am pretty excited for Ayushmann’s next, Dream Girl, in which he plays the role of a small town, middle class guy. And also a woman who has a fan following much bigger than he can handle.

In the trailer, you can see Ayushmann excelling in theatre as he plays the lead in Ramayana. You’d think he plays the role of Ram but no, he plays Sita – and he is quite good at it. While that much is harmless, he takes it to the next level by taking on the identity of a woman named Pooja. And this woman is a charmer and can seduce men with just her voice. Soon, the entire town is falling in love with her, except nobody knows that Pooja is actually a guy. Honestly, I am surprised with Ayushmann’s portrayal of a female character. He does it with natural finesse and it goes beyond me! What’s also great is that he plays a woman without the usually sexist tropes that go with it. There’s no oranges as breasts kind of nonsense. This is fun without being offensive.

In an interview with an entertainment portal, Ayushmann Khurrana revealed that he has been working hard to get an award for Dream Girl. Oh, you thought for Best Actor? He wants the Best Actress Of The Year award instead. This guy really has a unique sense of humour! I think they should at least nominate him…you know just for the kicks. Or have a special limited edition award for the best actor in a female role! Especially because at a recent event, he also turned up in a saree. What a star!
