Every day is a new and stylish day in the fashion biz. In fact, it is never far from surprising, sometimes wow-worthy and other times sigh-inducing. But while some of the information is noteworthy, there are the BIG scoops that shape the future of the industry. And that’s exactly what we’re here to share with you. In our monthly Best of Fashion series, we round up some of the best new releases, collabs, launches, and the works of fashion. This is everything you NEED to know. So ending 2016 with a fashionable bang, here are the best fashion launches the year has seen.
After working with several designer labels, London-based illustrator Hattie Stewart showed off her talent in India, with help of our very own e-tailer Koovs. Showcasing fun pieces, both apparel and accessories, this collection features funky and quirky appliqué work, such as emoticons, peace signs, doodle-eyes…the works. Tagging herself as a professional doodler, we were super happy that we could (and still can) get a glimpse of Hattie’s awesome work.
Kendall and Kylie Jenner had launched their own swimsuit line, in association with Topshop. Taking LA as their inspiration, the sibling-duo designed the pieces to match their personal style statements. Showcasing both, swimsuits and 2-piece bikinis in the range, this line of swimwear sold like hotcakes this summer.
3. The Caged Collection By Christian Louboutin
The designer label synonymous with stylish footwear, Louboutin’s new Caged collection is reflective of an elegant yet sexy woman. Concentrating on the texture, material, and shape of the shoe, it is said to represent the lines and curves of a woman’s leg, making it look all the more sensuous and feminine.
What happens when Indian royalty meets international silhouettes? Magic. Being nothing less than a dream, the second installation in this dynamic duo collaboration will bring your magical fantasies alive. The red-sole is iconic with the shoe label, no doubt, but Sabyasachi’s intricate work just adds to the beauty of the designs.
5. Myntra bought out Jabong
The biggest fashion news in July had to be Myntra buying out Jabong — 2 fashion e-tailers that consumers in India visit frequently. For a sum of $70 million, the e-store that is owned by Flipkart, rightfully took over Jabong from Global Fashion Group, its parent company.
6. Pharrell Williams x Adidas
Musician turned fashion guru, Pharrell Williams designed a collection for Adidas Originals. Showcasing varsity jackets, crop tops that ooze colour, sporty skirts, and swimwear bikinis, The Pink Beach has clothes that are extremely vibrant and funky, and will uplift your mood instantly.
Designer Sabyasachi has taken over the décor world too now with his collaboration with international luxury home décor store, Pottery Barn. The collection, which is true to his essence, has floral motifs, animal artwork, intricate embroidery — everything that screams Sabyasachi!
8. Tommy X GiGi
The Tommy X GiGi collection was something everyone loved this year! An amalgamation of true American fashion with a hint of that supermodel element is how you can describe this one. With nautical prints, and fun yet rustic silhouettes, and affordable prices, the pieces from this collaboration were spotted on several celebs post its showcase.
The biggest footwear trend this year had got to be the white sneaker…I mean, every person pretty much wore this with literally everything. The iconic Adidas Stan Smiths was in the news for launching a new version of the shoe, which is dipped in gold! Adidas teamed up with a German gold-beating company in order to create these awesome kicks.
Designer sibling duo Gauri & Nainika collaborated with Koovs for their affordable red-carpet collection suited for the modern, young girl. The capsule collection consisted of 26 dresses, out of which at least half were sold-out in a matter of days. With affordable prices, this collaboration was a way for us consumers to get red-carpet ready with Gauri & Nainika.
11. H&M Opened In Mumbai
If you were in the city during the period when H&M opened its doors to Mumbai, then you are aware of the hype that surrounded it. After launching in Delhi, this most-loved high-street fashion store was all set to say hello to Mumbaikars! With everyone super excited for its launch, Phoenix Mills saw never ending queues just to enter the store on its first day.
12. Kenzo X H&M
One of the most-awaited international collabs, designer label Kenzo worked together with high-street store H&M for their funky collection! Showcasing clothes with crazy prints, bizarre silhouettes, and out-there designs, the collection was definitely off-beat, yet so totally high-fashion.
