10 Blushes That Pop On Indian Skin Tones
Blush is an underrated product, when it comes to makeup for Indian women. We brown girls tend to ignore the lifting effect blush can have on our skin and we choose, instead, to go heavy with kohl and lipstick. Blush can make you look like you just worked out, it can add a healthy flush of colour to an otherwise boring look, or it can contour your face. Don’t believe me? Celebrity makeup artist Daniel Bauer swears by the draping technique. So, what I’m trying to say is, don’t skip out on adding some blush to your everyday makeup looks.
#HauteTip: Unless you have absolutely flawless skin, I prefer applying blush on top of a base layer: foundation or BB Cream.
If you’re looking for the ultimate draping product, look no further. Marc Jacobs Beauty released the Air Blush Soft Glow Duo earlier this year. In case you need a refresher on what draping is, here goes: apply the lighter colour on top of your cheekbone and the darker color below it. An angled brush works best for this technique. But if you want a soft sheen, then apply a mix of both shades together!
2. Drape For Less
If you want a similar draping effect for less, then Lakmé is your best option. I love these duos. They can be used separately or together.
3. A Velvety Touch
This chubby stick in a creamy formula will add a pop of colour to your face and ensure your cheeks are the highlight of your look. Apply some on the top of the apples of your cheeks and blend with your fingertips, or with a sponge. My top pick for Indian skin tones will be the neutral, peachy shade: glimmer.
4. Blush Pop
I think we’ve raved about this one enough. So, just check this out? For a quick recap: it’s easy to wear, fuss-free, and gives an absolute natural glow.
5. Rosy Cheeks
This blush is right for rosy cheeks — you know, that just-worked-out kind of glow? It’s a natural coluor that mimics the shade of a real flush for Indian skin.
This L’Oréal blush is a mix of bright pinks, with fuschia being the dominant colour. Swipe this on for a night out and make sure your cheekbones stand out!
If you’re looking for a sheen that comes from within, then try Milani’s baked blushes. Milani blushes are a miraculous fit to every skin tone! And if you want to try red, their Red Vino is a good place to start, without being OTT!

#HauteTip: Cream blushes work better for combination to dry skin, while powder brushes are best for oily skin. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t switch it up every now and then. Baked blushes, like the M.A.C and Milani blushes, have a super buttery formula that make it great for both types of skin.
