5 Reasons You Are Not Getting Wet Even Though You Are Horny

By  |

Have you ever felt like you really want something but your body just disagrees? Like how you want to socialise but your body is like ha ha, too old! Or when you want to eat another portion of fries but your body is like you’ve exhausted your limit for gluttony. That’s okay because I understand that, it’s more like greed vs needs. But what really throws me off balance is the weird relationship between my mind and my vagina. Has it ever happened to you, when you’re with bae and horny AF but down there it’s like an arid region?

This can really mess with our heads because we know that if we find it difficult to get wet if he is not good at bed or if you’re not into him. We can tell that from experience. But what if you’re super into him and that sexy moment? He has just given you the best erotic massage. He has been attentive to the point where you’ve felt each tingle in erogenous zones you didn’t know existed. You have no doubts in his abilities to turn you on like a speedboat and he has made you dripping wet in the past. “Fuck, what’s wrong?” you wonder. Let me tell you. It’s more common than you think.

1) You could be stressed or distracted

Sometimes, I am stressed and I don’t even realise it. The reason behind this is that it’s all playing in the back of my mind and it’s only after my body starts showing signs that I understand what’s going on. In fact, stress doesn’t have to be mental. Even when you’re tired or sleep deprived, the level of cortisol (stress hormone) shoots up. This stress can set off certain inflammatory processes in your body which often affects the nervous system transmission in your body. In short, it doesn’t let your brain connect well with your body and which is why, your vagina misses on the signal that it needs to self-lubricate.

2) Maybe you need more

It’s not necessary that each time you get it on, you will need the same amount of foreplay. Some days, you get wet easily. Some days, you take time. It’s not like you’re not turned on. But your body needs the time to respond and if it needs more foreplay then be it! Taking it slow with the foreplay can actually make you hornier and the sex so much better (and worth the wait!)

3) There are some things you need in the foreplay

I am a nightmare for someone who likes to cut to the chase. So I realised that I need to spend time with them outside of bed, then have some conversations in bed while cuddling and then I get truly in the mood. Like I consider that a part of foreplay…giving me whatever is the female equivalent of an emotional boner!

4) Drop in estrogen levels

One of the most common reason of vaginal dryness if a drop in estrogen levels in your body. Which is why, several women find it difficult to get wet after menopause. Estrogen levels witness a drop twice in our monthly cycle. So if you’re having sex during one or both of those two windows, chances are it is the reason behind your vagina being as dry as firewood.

5) Blame it on alcohol (and other things)

We know alcohol can dehydrate us but did you know it can also dry up your vagina? If you’re having sex after getting so drunk that you can’t remember the number of drinks you had, this theory makes sense. But apart from alcohol, certain medications as well as soaps, can become obstacles in your sex life.
