World’s Oldest Couple Have Been Married For Almost 80 Years And Here’s The Secret Behind Their Forever Kind Of Love

Julio Cesar Mora Tapia, 110, and Waldramina Maclovia Quinteros Reyes, 104, became the Guinness World Record holder of the world’s oldest married couple, having lived a combined total of 215 years. They have been married for a total of 79 years. They had met on a school vacation back then.

Love Wins
The couple knew each other seven years before they tied the knot and the initial years weren’t free from roadblocks. Apparently, their families didn’t get along but eventually, over the years, things became smooth. “It was not easy because our relatives did not have a good relationship, but with time and patience we were able to unite them and we became an example and the best reference for the younger generations,” says a statement recorded by Guinness World Record.
The couple went on to have a big family, the kind we see in Sooraj Barjatya movies with five children, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Okay, scratch that, the last time I saw a family this big was in Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi after the several generation leaps it went through. How did they manage to keep the wheels of such a colossal family running? “Family unity under the rules of love, mutual respect, honest work, and proper education based on family values are the keys to healthy coexistence,” the couple said.

The Secret Behind Their Successful Marriage
But none of this could have been possible without a strong foundation. It was their love and understanding that helped them sustain the ever-changing nature of relationships and personal evolution. “The love and maturity that we had as a couple from the beginning of the marriage allowed us to know each other and grow emotionally to define our future,” the couple who married 79 years ago on 7th February, 1941. Their wedding was a small gathering with just their godparents and close people since their families were against their marriage. But in the end, love triumphed all, truly.

Mora was born on 10th March, 1910, and Quinteros on 16th October, 1915. “Libra and Pisces are both very understanding and even in the case of a fiery fight between the two, they tend not to stay angry with each other for too long.
