A Husband Wrote A Heartfelt Letter To Thank The Hairdresser Who Gave His Dying Wife Her Last Haircut. We’re Not Crying, You Are
I am not the one to bawl my eyes out and dampen a dozen of tissues every time I watch a sad movie or read a mushy romantic novel with a sad ending. That’s just not my thing. Yes, I know it sounds like I am emotionally bankrupt but it’s pretty hard for me to shed tears on something that’s, well, completely fictional. However, I am a total lost cause when it comes to true love stories and real couples. That stuff makes me ugly-cry. Plus, finding true love in the 21st century is like finding a needle in the haystack so when you come across a weep-worthy love story, you can’t help the waterworks.
Take this epic love story for example which made the netizens smile and sob. A grieving husband has written to his late wife’s hairdresser thanking her for making his wife comfortable and feel pretty for the last time. He wrote that he has been meaning to express his gratitude for a long time and finally did via the emotional letter. The wife had dementia and died in March.
Heads up, you might wanna grab some tissues before you read this.
He wrote in the letter, “My wife was suffering from dementia, and you treated her as if you’d been working with dementia patients all your life. You let us sit next to each other and when it was time for her cut, you turned her chair towards me so I could watch her expression as you cut her hair.” He also went on to saying that getting the haircut was one of the best last moments of her life.

Beautiful letter. I know exactly what he's saying. My Mum has severe dementia but still loves having her hair done.
What a brilliant hairdresser. https://t.co/dpe9Lh3aOp

He also pointed out how easily we take things for granted and how the littlest thing like a haircut made his wife feel pretty in her last days. He wrote, “To see her so happy was priceless. Looking back, it was likely one of dozens of haircuts you gave that day. But one which revitalized a woman’s sense of self and her singular beauty. I hope you always realize the power of your profession. It’s so easy to take things like that for granted,” and signed the signed off the letter, “Sincerely, a grateful customer.”
The hairdresser, Sara responded to the letter saying, “I cried when I received the letter, like mostly everyone else has. I had been struggling with my career, feeling uninspired so receiving that letter reminded me why I do what I do. I have no experience with dementia whatsoever. I just try to treat everyone that sits in my chair with basic human respect. My advice for other stylists would be to just treat them as you would any other client. Sometimes things take a little longer and it’s tough in our career because time is money but hairstylists are a special breed of people. We often do it for the passion more than the money,” according to Bored Panda.
The letter was initially shared on Reddit with the caption, “I am not Sara, but she sounds like a wonderful person 🙂 just wanted to share because it made me tear up today!” The thread has over 1.2k comments of readers admiring the husband and appreciating the hairdresser. One Reddit user wrote, “That’s so sweet!! Almost made me cry. What a nice gesture of him to do! I hope it lifted up not just the day for you but the whole year.” Another user wrote, “How nice! People are always so quick to ta person or business the negative experience they had, but leave out the positive when that could really change someone’s day or come at a time when they’ve been questioning themselves or feeling down.”
Little things like this sweet gesture is all we need to sail through the tough time we are going through right now. Did it make you tear up?
