Priyadarshini Rao Creates Bespoke Clothing For Good Earth

We’ve always loved designer and textile enthusiast Priyadarshini Rao’s boho-with-a-desi-twist clothing. Her silhouettes are fluid and fabulous, the colours earthy and unusual, and the fabrics indigenous. The veteran designer’s eponymous label is a popular one too. Retailing out of 15 stores across the country as well as online, she’s created a deeply considered point of view for her brand that is as chic as it is elegant.

It’s no wonder then that one of our favourite lifestyle stores Good Earth – (don’t you just want to permanently live inside the store?) – has collaborated with her on a bespoke clothing line that complements both brands’ design DNA perfectly. The organic collection boasts hand and vegetable dyeing and has been designed along two colour paths: an Indigo line and an Earth line. It speaks to the global Indian woman who loves her heritage but has a demanding lifestyle that requires her to be on the go constantly. Never one to compromise on comfort, silhouettes in the collection include dresses, over-shirts, tunics, smock shirts and roomy pants, in fabrics like cotton, silk, linen, chanderi, silk dupion and khadi. The detailing on the garments includes block printing, hand embroidery, and lace.

The collection is part of Good Earth’s Sustain label, which celebrates India’s textile traditions using only natural fibres. With Rao creating a special collection for the store celebrating the weaving and printing techniques of India, we think this is one match that’s truly made in textile heaven!

The Indigo-Earth line by Priyadarshini Rao will retail exclusively at Good Earth Mumbai starting November 2015.
