WTF! The Pakistani Censor Board Has Banned Veere Di Wedding

They told us to love thy neighbour. And we kinda do, though it wasn’t always this way. When India and Pakistan are on field, we have attempted to be more civilised, but it’s always a spectacular clash. Besides, we’ve shared history, and we can’t deny that their talent when it comes to music is unparalleled. But perhaps, not everything can work for both India and Pakistan. Like Veere Di Wedding.

While we have been celebrating this movie for being progressive, and for finally giving women something to watch that’s actually relatable, Pakistan has decided to ban Veere Di Wedding for having vulgar dialogues and obscene scenes.

The movie was screened for the CBFC in Pakistan on Tuesday night. According to trade sources, the movie was deemed unfit for exhibition due to “vulgar dialogues and obscene scenes”. The Distribution Club also issued withdrawals of their application for the certification after witnessing the criticism from members of the board, reported The Express Tribune.

Other movies that have previously been banned include Baby, Agent Vinod and their ilk, for portraying Pakistan in a bad light. Padman was also banned, maybe because women in the country do not get their periods and are positively offended by it.

Seen it all?
