What Saroj Khan Has To Say About Bollywood’s Casting Couch Will Shock You!
In the midst of this social storm where everyone is talking about feminism, and rightly so, Saroj Khan took women’s rights by the collar, and dragged it right back to the 19th century. Just makes me all warm and fuzzy inside when people do that. Especially people who have some degree of clout. *slow clap*
At a recent press conference, Saroj Khan arrived with her weird sexist ideas. Apparently, she had to leave logic at the door. The popular choreographer actually defended the casting couch in Bollywood, saying that it at least provides a livelihood, and it does not rape you and leave you. We are so thoroughly enamoured by her choice of words in this current situation, and also her splendid defense of the casting couch. In her words, ” Tum film industry ke peeche kyun pade ho? Woh kam se kam roti toh deti hai. Rape karke chhod toh nahi deti. ”
She was also rather hurt by the fact that people target the Bollywood film industry, when in fact, the casting couch exists everywhere. Also, in what is an ode to her superior intelligence, she mentioned that people should not give in to the demand of the said casting couch if they have talent.
She has since apologised for her statements, but we’re just going Tsk. Tsk.
We can’t even. We can’t.
