We’ve had Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor who led the pack of actors in Bollywood. Of course, then came the Khans and while India still loves them, at some point they will be too old to portray the character of a young hero. Which brings me to the question, from all the actors we have right now, who is making the right moves to be the next torch-bearer of B-town? I would say it has to be Ayushmann Khuranna. Now, I can’t predict the future (if by any chance you thought I could) but it seems like he is climbing the ladder, and very consistently. This is his year and he is getting where he deserves to be.

Every celebrity is a brand on their own with people working full-time on building their image. They decide how they wish to be seen by the masses and a team gets to work on the basis of the brief. After that, everything they do has to resonate with the image they want to build. Which is possibly why, when you happen to meet some of them in person, and they turn out to be different – you feel disappointed. I am not saying all of them are putting on a façade. In the past three years, he has worked in eight movies and all of them have been box office hits. In fact, this goes beyond films. Ayushmann has joined forces with UNICEF and Ministry of Women and Child Development to create awareness about child sexual abuse. “As a socially conscious citizen, I would always want to spread the word on matters that are important to our country and matters that need urgent attention,” he said.

He knows his worth and isn’t afraid to ask what he deserves. A source revealed that he has hiked his fee by 500%. Now, it’s not like he is asking for an insane amount of money. He is used to charge much lower than what other actors of his league do. But no more. “The fact that he can rake in double figures on an opening day is probably the reason he has decided to hike his remuneration,” the source added. While he is being loved by both critics and the audiences, he is also climbing up the ladder professionally. With more money coming in, it only makes sense to invest somewhere. Ayushmann has invested in a men’s grooming company and will also be the brand ambassador of the same. I mean, with his well-maintained beard, I can totally imagine.
