Virat Kohli Chatted With Charulata Patel, The Indian Cricket Team’s 87-Year-Old Enthusiastic Fan! We Heart It So Much
I’ve always been of the belief that if there is one thing that can unanimously unite people, it is not going to be any politician, or any practice, but a sport and in the case of India, it’s cricket. This is the only game that makes the entire nation come together and sing. And we are discovering fun, new things on our way to getting a berth in the semi-finals of this World Cup. This one especially has our heart! Charulata Patel is India’s 87-year-old fan who has taken the internet by a storm in the recent India vs Bangladesh match for being super enthusiastic and at her age!
The games are getting interesting. There have major changes in the lineup but we are certainly forging ahead, save the glitch that was the Indian-England match. So naturally, when yesterday India was playing Bangladesh, everyone was quick to get their priorities in order, leaving work early and settling in for what was going to be another amazing match. And amazing it was. Rohit Sharma scored a record 4th century of the ongoing World Cup while Bumrah bagged 4 wickets, giving India a win by 28 runs.
She is going to be a internet sensation…❣️❣️❣️

But what really caught my and apparently all of India’s attention was this one particular fan, an 87-year-old lady, who sat there midst the crowd, cheering on the boys and blowing on a horn in support of the Indian cricket team as they slayed on the field. Her zest and enthusiasm was contagious and tangible, as the entire stadium and later, netizens, fell in love with this cheerful woman for being her spirited self. When the woman was asked about what she thought about the match and the team, she replied “ I love this Indian team and all the players are like my kids.”
Also would like to thank all our fans for all the love & support & especially Charulata Patel ji. She's 87 and probably one of the most passionate & dedicated fans I've ever seen. Age is just a number, passion takes you leaps & bounds. With her blessings, on to the next one. 🙏🏼😇 pic.twitter.com/XHII8zw1F2

And we could imagine how this was true not just with her but several others, who religiously watch and support the team for a win that goes beyond just getting a trophy home. It brings back more than just an accolade, it brings back pride, honour and respect. And to discover these sweet things, like lady who’s young at heart cheering on the boys in blue is just the icing on the cake.
How amazing is this?!

Later after the match, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were also seen seeking blessings from Charulata. The official Twitter account of Cricket World Cup also posted a video calling her a ‘special fan’. Guess it is little moments like these that leave a larger impact and bring back the wholesomeness even in such competitive tournaments!
