Vaani Kapoor Recalls Feeling Anxious Before Dancing With Hrithik Roshan In The Song, Ghungroo. But She Did So Well.
In the words of my mother, who I should tell you often exaggerates when it comes down to it, I was dancing even before I could walk. And by that, I don’t mean doing full splits and pirouettes but a few untimely bum wiggles and claps. However, by the age of seven, my mother had already enrolled me into a dance institution and that is when I discovered dance was one of my passions. Thoroughly enjoying going to classes and acing at all those splits I couldn’t do before, I still remember being in awe of Hrithik Roshan and his moves while growing up. From learning his most famous routine on ‘Ek pal ka jeena‘ from his debut movie Kaho Na Pyaar Hai to crushing on him hard during the time of K3G, all I wanted to do was say ‘I am your Sonia’ and shake a leg with him. Of course, that didn’t happen, at least not yet.
And while I am still waiting for my chance to share a stage with the guy, or even an elevator kiss, Vaani Kapoor was one of the few lucky ones who did get that opportunity. This was when they worked together on the action movie War. The actress recently recalled the time when she was shooting for the hit song Ghungroo from the film and had to match her steps with the legend that Hrithik Roshan has been in the field of dancing. She shared how nervous and anxious she was at that time and anyone would have been!
Vaani Kapoor said, “That one step gave me a lot of stress and anxiety. I am a paranoid person, so for me to deal with that stress is like…” and we could totally relate to the feeling she must be getting. That step was in itself a little too tricky to pick up, let alone to do it alongside Hrithik. Even the thought of doing that is giving me mild panic attacks.

She further mentioned how, “You know, it’s really funny. People think I am a dancer and I have had some training in dancing. I don’t!” She even admitted to having asked the choreographer Bosco Martis if she can be taken off from the dance sequence. And finally, that is when she was given a comparatively easy step, which she was able to pull off well. And we kinda don’t blame her, anyone is bound to crack a little under all that pressure, and if it helps, the song and the video came out absolutely stunning anyway!
Vaani Kapoor will be next seen alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt in Karan Malhotra’s movie, Shamshera. With the lockdown in place, all projects and releases have been pushed until further notice, and so when the movie would finally hit the screens is still TBD.
