Urvashi Rautela Spoke About The Boney Kapoor Controversy And Asked People To Stop Blowing It Out Of Proportion.

I’ve always felt that most men I’ve encountered, have some sort of a weird fascination for damsels in distress. They love playing the rescuer, of course when they’re not playing the predator, and suffer from a deep hero complex. As do the netizens I believe, for they too seem to love themselves a damsel in distress they can help out of trouble. And the reason we say this is after the Great Grand Masti actress Urvashi Rautela, opened up about the controversies around her and Boney Kapoor.

In April, while attending an event, a particular video had gone viral that saw Urvashi Rautela and director Boney Kapoor break from a hug, and caused an uproar on the internet. Apparently, Boney Kapoor’s hand was slightly awkwardly placed on Urvashi’s derriere and the internet wasn’t going to have any of it. Mind you, Urvashi had nothing of the sort to say. And while in real life, most people would run the opposite way, because this had stars and there was potential to seem like a hero, every one jumped on to say how inappropriate it was.

Soon after the controversy broke, trolls and hate comments for the director surfaced on internet but Urvashi Rautela was quick to come to his rescue and issue a statement about how appalled she felt that people were misconstruing a situation and sabotaging an innocent man’s reputation. She wrote in her tweet, “I felt appalled and beyond shocked this morning when i saw social media flooded with trolls of me in a video with respected @BoneyKapoor Sir.
He is a true Gentleman and it makes me feel extremely unhappy and miserable because the social sites/media don’t even think twice before.” And while we ourselves have zero tolerance for a man who has wronged a woman, we respect her word when she says there was no smoke to this fire.

Now, months after the incident, Urvashi has opened up about the controversy in an interview with Bollywood Hungama and said, “It was blown out of proportion. Everywhere, the video went viral overnight. But there was nothing like that. I was supposed to work on a film with superstar Ajith. It was a Tamil film which I couldn’t do because of my movie dates. So I knew him already. But because I couldn’t do movie with him, that doesn’t mean I don’t have a relationship with him.”

She further said, “So, it was a great gesture. I was entering at the party, he was also there and the person who was getting married was also there. So we were just clicking picture. And I don’t know if the photography or the angle, the way they captured, it was so weird. So then it went to become such a big thing. My phone was ringing non-stop for 7 days. So I think it was blown out of proportion.” And we do agree, the internet needs to calm down, indeed.

We understand the need to be on our toes and go all guns blazing on predators, especially in a time like this when people are at the peak of their ‘woke’ selves. But a woman’s word must be taken seriously, no matter what it is she is claiming. Be it for accusing a man of harassing her or when she says nothing happened. So, the next time you have your hero complex set in, make sure to find out if what you think is really what happened.
