TV Actor Divya Agarwal Gets Shamed Her For Posting Pictures Post Father’s Demise. What Even?

This year has been incredibly difficult for all of us. Not just because of the unending house arrest, mental stress and job cuts but also the constant fear of contracting the fatal virus and losing a near one because of it. The least we can expect from people at such trying times is to be a little more considerate and thoughtful and not judge anyone but guess that’s too much to expect from some people on the internet. am saying this is because recently TV actor Divya Agarwal was mercilessly shamed for posting pictures on her social media.

Internet is a bad place and the pandemic has made it even more toxic, it seems. Why? Because a few days ago she lost her father and posting her pictures somehow implied that she has moved on. How dare she? That is just unacceptable according to the self-proclaimed moral police on Instagram.

She was slammed for sharing glamourous pictures and got hate messages for moving on so quickly. Last I checked, everyone has their own way of coping with grief. And, that’s not even the point. Who made these anonymous netizens the moral police, anyway? It’s like these people behind the screens have only one job in the lockdown and that is bringing other people down and shaming anyone and everyone who doesn’t fit their idea of doing something.

Disappointed on the reaction, Divya shared, “I really don’t know what to say. Why do I have to feel guilty about moving on? My dad, my loss, my way of handling. It’s sad to see people still want to demean you in such situations. Maybe the world is so toxic right now. They only want to see people cry.”

A few days ago, she shared with her followers that rather than mourning, she and her family will celebrate the life her father has lived. She said, “We are going to celebrate Diwali. I am going to ask my mom to keep Karva Chauth, she is not going to remove her bindi and mangalsutra. Hum shok nahi manayenge (We will not mourn).” It’s completely upon her how she wants to deal with the loss and as it seems, it’s a very healthy way to do it. She isn’t letting sorrow grip her and her family and bouncing back to work, as anyone should.

She also reminded trolls how they were all supportive of Cricketer Virat Kohli who played Ranji Match a day after his father’s death. This was met with applaud and appreciation, as it should. He resumed work and did not let even a great loss come between him and his passion. So, someone please tell me why are trolls spewing hate when an actor does the same? She wrote on her Instagram stories, “We are in a country where @virat.kohli is respected for resuming back to his passion after his fathers demise but when I’m willing to do the same, people are trolling me..this is the last day I’m posting about these things..tomorrow onwards no one will even know what I think.” She’s given up on the trolls after hitting back the right way. We would have done the same.

Are we actually stooping so low that now we guilt people into thinking they moved on too quickly from a loss? Or is it because she is an actress and well, we all know how celebrities, especially women are always on a pedestal and trolled for the silliest things? Whatever it may be, the troll army on social media need to chill and leave people alone. Also, maybe get a life, with a full-time job. Just saying!
