#Trending: Malaika Arora Says Returning To Work Makes Her Feel Like It’s The First Day Of School. We Relate
It was merely 5 months ago that we were going to work, meeting our friends and living life. 5 months ago, we were carefree and living life on our terms. Now? We live life on corona’s terms. The good news is that we know the universe has one rule (well, it has many but this one is relevant to our situation)- nothing lasts forever. So, at least we can find solace in the fact that one day we will be free from these shackles again. Although, after 5 months of staying cooped up without any work or source of income, as you know, people are getting a tad angsty. I can’t really blame them, I feel the same way. But hey, I would rather bear the brunt of the lockdown than the full force of the coronavirus.
Although, there are times I catch myself daydreaming what it is going to be like going back to the office, sitting on my desk, having that tapri chai and of course, tightly hugging my friends and my co-workers. I think I would feel it would feel like a gorgeous mixture of Christmas morning and my birthday. Now I know it’s not safe and there is not enough sanitizer in the world but it can’t hurt to daydream, can it? Our work lives will never be the same for a long time.
A few workplaces and even shoots have started though. Personally, I feel like it’s a little too soon though to start shooting. A set is like the perfect breeding ground for the virus and our curve is far from being flat. But after I saw the video Malaika Arora posted, I was reassured (just a tad bit). It seems like they are taking every single precaution that needs to be taken. But who knows how much precaution is enough precaution when it comes to the coronavirus?

Stepping out of the house to resume work after almost 4 months…had a mixed bag of emotions… excitement, nervousness, happiness, fear. Things are definitely not the same but the show must go on!! With extra precaution, extra efforts and a prayer that everything goes well, we all are restarting our lives and our work. The team went out of their way to make all of us comfortable and left no stone unturned to take all the necessary steps to ensure all the safety measures were in place. Felt like my first day of school after a long vacation and I was so excited to meet all my friends 🙂 #TheShowMustGoOn #BackToSchool @malakelezzawy × @manekaharisinghani × @sonyentertainmenttelevision_ @divyachablani15 × @sheetal_f_khan 📷@sajidkhan_photography Retouching- @retouchingartists
You see, after 4 months of being under lockdown, Malaika returned to the sets of the TV show India’s Best Dancer where she is a judge along with Geeta Kapoor and Terrance Lewis. She took to her Instagram to document her mixed feelings about her first day and to show her followers the kind of precaution that the show-runners are taking for people who enter the set.
The diva posted a video on Instagram that showed her dressing room, outfit, suitcase, accessories etc being sanitized. Her temperature was taken before entering the set, she was completely sanitized as well and her makeup artists were in full PPE kits. In the video, Malaika was seen on set wearing a mask, completely decked up and ready to shoot. PS: She looks better in a mask than I do without *sigh*.
The caption that accompanied the video is what caught my attention though. It read, “India’s best dancer. The first thing that popped into my head after reading her caption was that going back to the office would actually feel like the first day of school. That is the perfect description of how it would feel. The only difference is that back then we would not think twice before hugging our friends. Now, we can’t even high five without thinking ten times. Her caption though is super relatable. I suspect at some point or another, we will all come across that exact “mixed bag of emotions”.
I know we are all dying to go back to living our lives but the truth is, there is still a lot of uncertainty. As glad as we are that sets are taking such high-level precautions, I still feel it’s way too early to begin shooting. Things really need to calm down before anyone us can even think of going somewhere and meeting people.
Malaika’s feelings about returning to work are super relatable though.
