10 Hacks To Make Travelling A Total Breeze!

By  |

If given a choice, I’d drop everything and travel around the globe. The world has so many reasons to go on a binge of discovery. A life spent in the confines of your city or country is truly a life wasted. I urge each and every one of you to get up off that couch and start traveling. Need a break from your everyday routine? Travel. Need a fresh perspective? Travel. Want to desperately discover who you truly are? Travel!

Having said that, I must also admit that travelling means lots and lots of planning. If you’re a meticulous and organised person, you don’t have to worry. If not, err…it’s time to be one. There are lots of hacks that come in handy when it comes to packing or even booking cheap flights. It’s imperative to know them all. Why? It’ll make your experience that much easier. Besides, if you aren’t worried about something all the time, you will definitely relax and enjoy yourself better.

So if you’re looking to get away from the city or even the country anytime soon, scroll on. Here are 10 hacks that’ll make traveling a total breeze.

1. Mark Baggage As Fragile

Want your baggage to be handled correctly? Mark it as fragile. When you do this, your luggage goes right on top of others’ bags. Apart from being handled carefully, it’ll also be one of the first bags to arrive at baggage claim. Score!

2. Scan & Email Documents To Yourself

Scan important documents like your passport, ID, your itinerary, etc and email them to yourself. This will come in handy in case of loss or theft. If you’re worried about internet access, you can maintain an offline record of these documents by taking screenshots of your email.

3. Always Carry A Pen

It might sound silly now, but wait until you need a pen to fill out a bunch of forms! Don’t underestimate the importance of carrying a pen with you, whenever you travel. That way, you won’t have to worry about borrowing it from someone else or worse, not finding one at all!

4. Use ATMs For Local Currency

Generally, money converters at the airport come with their own fee. This fee and the exchange rate can be exorbitant at times and you won’t know if you’re paying a fair amount. Use your debit or credit card at an ATM which will obviously dispense local currency, for easier and cheaper transactions.

5. Shop For Snacks When You Arrive

Before you head off to the hotel, make sure you shop for certain basics like water, cookies, fruit, or chips from local stores. That way, you will have some food to sustain you and you don’t have to pay a handsome fee at the hotel for room service or snacks. It could really save you a lot.

6. Unpack Basic Necessities Only

Once you’re in your room, don’t start hurrying around unpacking everything! Make sure you unpack only a couple of basics like your toiletries, PJs, etc. This way, you won’t have to face the ordeal of re-packing everything when it’s time to leave. Moreover, your chances of leaving something behind are also slim.

7.  Use Yelp

Yelp is an online platform that’s better than a guidebook. It’ll tell you everything about the place you’re at — where you can find the yummiest burger, the best club in the vicinity, and lots more! Use Yelp to discover things that are off the beaten track.

8. Keep A Souvenir List Ready

I can’t stress enough on the importance of this. It’s always better to have a list of this kind ready. That way, you won’t be gazing dazed at the hundred different things you can buy for a hundred different people. But make sure you stick to the list once you’ve made one. We all know how easy it is to get carried away while shopping!

9. Use The Television To Charge Devices

If you’ve forgotten to pack the wall plug to your charger, don’t worry. Use the USB slot on the TV to charge your device.

10. Download Your Airline’s App

Many airlines have wisely invested money into building apps. Make sure you download your airline’s app. This will keep you updated on any changes or delays in your flight and keep you relaxed instead of stressed out.
