This Young Couple From Madhya Pradesh Travelled 200 Km To Volunteer In A Coronavirus Vaccine Trial.

All throughout the year, we have lived in fear of being infected by the virus. The lockdown, that only lasted a few months, felt like a lifetime. And now that the year is finally coming to an end and we have a semblance of our normal lives back, there is only one thing everyone is worried about- the coronavirus vaccine. The UK is all set to begin mass distribution but here in India, we are still lagging far behind. We are still struggling to find people to participate in vaccine trials. It’s shocking but true. However, today we came across a couple from Madhya Pradesh who travelling far and wide to take part in the corona vaccine trial. That’s a far , far place to travel.

This young couple from Indore, MP, travelled nearly 200kms to reach the state’s capital, Bhopal. They risked their lives and travelled all this way to participate in the administration of the coronavirus vaccine which is in its third phase of trials at the People’s College of Medical Sciences and Research Centre.

This was a truly selfless act since the Bhopal institute is experiencing a major dearth of volunteers. Manoj Rai said that he was associated with the vaccination programme and travelled to Bhopal often. He met with the district authorities last week and decided to take part in the vaccination trials. Manoj was asked to come to the institute on 8th December.

When he returned to Indore and told his wife, Pooja, she also showed interest in participating in the corona vaccination programme. The couple travelled from Indore to Bhopal and reached on Tuesday to get vaccinated.

The state authorities are making appeals to the public because they are facing a major dearth in volunteers. It seems like as much as people want the coronavirus vaccine, no one wants to step up and take part in the trials. Which is kind of understandable considering in Britain, a few people fell seriously ill after taking the Pfizer vaccine. They faced adverse reactions like facial paralysis. That is just scary.

However, this couple is willing to take a chance and we are hoping it all works out.
