This Man Murdered His Daughter Because A Tantrik Told Him It Would Bring Him Good Fortune. WTF Is Even Going On?

What drives the world? Money, sex, power and love. These four things are extremely dangerous in the hands of the wrong people. Think about every gruesome crime you have ever heard of, ever desire you’ve had and you will be able to link it back to these four concepts. The million-dollar question here though, that puts things in perspective is- how far will you go?

The way I see it, it’s the age-old debate between right and wrong. To make money, you will get yourself a job and make an honest living. You will swallow your pride when your boss yells and say,’that’s how far I will go.’  But that wasn’t the case with this father who murdered his daughter. A shocking and gruesome case has come to light, where a father murdered his teenage daughter at the advice of a tantrik

On 19th May, the body of a 13-year-old girl was found near a waterbody in the Pudukottai district of Tamil Nadu. The circumstances under which her body was found were inexplicable but upon further investigation, the police found out that it was her father who had murdered her. If you are shocked now, wait to hear what his motive was.

The father, S Paneersevlam had six children. Four from his first wife, Indira and two from his second wife Mookayi. The 13-year-old victim, Vidya was his youngest daughter from his first marriage. On 19th May, Vidya went to fetch water from the water body that’s near their house and did not return. Later on in the day, she was found lying near the house in an extremely critical condition. They rushed her to Thanjavur Medical College where she died the next day.

Upon further investigation, the police found that Paneersevlam and his wife Mookayi had financial troubles. It was Mookayi who suggested that they visit a tantrik and introduced her husband to S Vasanthi, a woman tantrik. Vasathi told Paneerselvam that he will enjoy good fortune if he murders one of his daughters. Believing her words, Paneersevlam, with the help of Mookayi and one of their relative P Kumar, murdered Vidya.

The three accused, strangled her and then tore her clothes to make it look like a sexual assault. However, their plan unravelled when no signs of sexual assault showed up in the post mortem.

Paneersevlam later confessed to having murdered his daughter on the advice of the tantrik. He and his two accomplices were arrested but the tantrik involved is still at large. Coincidentally (or divine karma), Mookayi died on 30th May due to health issues.

A case has been booked against them under IPC 147, 120(B) and 302. Apart from that, section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) act has been included.

This case of human sacrifice is gruesome and extremely shocking but not as uncommon. The man wanted good fortune and instead of working for it, he chose to murder his own daughter. This is illogical, horrid and utterly nonsensical.
