This Guy Called Our Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman “Sweetie”. She Didn’t Even Dignify That Bit With A Response
I think I have said this before, having an opinion is fine. If someone said something sexist or actually disgusting, yeah, go ahead and tell them. Here is the thing though and hear me clearly, you can’t go around throwing your opinion just because. Honestly, it is getting a little tiresome so please if you are one of the “trolls” find another place to shine. Preferably, get out from behind your computer screen and stop trying to bring people down.
Today, one smart alec decided to go after a very prominent politician, our very own Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman which is okay, politicians are targetted all the time. But in the process, the man also called her “sweetie”. Yep, that just happened.
On Sunday, Sitharaman took to Twitter to celebrate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The tweet read, “Awake, arise, and dream no more! This is the land of dreams, where Karma. Weaves unthreaded garlands with our thoughts…Be bold, and face. The Truth! Be one with it! Let visions cease…The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda IV, pp 388-89.”

Not long after she posted this, a guy replied to the thread to point out that she had misquoted Vivekananda. His tweet said, “@nsitharaman quotes from the Katha Upanishad & Swamiji’s adoption of the saying ‘arise awake’. Sweetie its ‘cease not until your goal is reached’ not ‘dream no more’; unless it’s Budget 2020 that you are warning us about!”

She is not a “sweetie” she is our Finance Minster for crying out loud, what the hell was he thinking? Look, pointing out a mistake is one thing this sexist attitude is blatant disrespect, and no one should stand for it.

I am so glad she handed the guy his ass, someone needed to do that. You know how as kids our mothers would tell us “Think twenty times before you talk”? This is the perfect example of that. If I was Sanjoy Ghose, I would be super embarrassed right now.
