The trailer for Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga is out and we are wiping tears of joy. No, not because it is emotional but we’ve watched such horrible movies by the superstars that something good is a relief. For starters, this one is not going to be your clichéd love story. The title, when it came out gave us quite a few ideas about what the story line would be, but with the trailer out, we know this is going to be an important film.
The trailer begins with Sonam’s character Sweety’s idea as a little girl of falling in love when she grows up, and takes us through the typical household of a Punjabi family. As she grows up, she is subjected to the inevitable marriage question and this is when things start to unravel. As is the norm, nobody cares about how Sonam really feels, she’s the right age and marriage is the next logical step. Because assumption is all the consent they need.
We can predict a critical storyline attached with this movie, one that might just ease people into the idea of homosexuality, because dear god people need to understand it already. The intensity of the script and the real-life father daughter duo has us excited and mostly, hoping that this movie is the game-changer it promises to be.
