The Kesari Trailer Is Out. Did You Guys Spot Parineeti? Yeah, Neither Did We.

The Kesari Trailer Is Out. Did You Guys Spot Parineeti? Yeah, Neither Did We.

The trailer for the most talked about movie – Kesari, starring Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra (just barely, though) came out today. We were excited. Then we watched the trailer and looked at the screen confused. Yes, her name is in the credits but where is she in the trailer? At this point, we have seen more snazzy shots of Akshay’s turban than Parineeti.

Don’t get us wrong here, we do acknowledge the brilliant women-centric movies that are rolling around, but somehow when it comes down to the patriotic films, the role for the actresses is conveniently dropped down to that of a filler.

Take this trailer for instance. It starts with Akshay Kumar and his dialogue in the backdrop leading up to the brave Battle of Saragarhi where 21 Sikh soldiers fought against 10,000 Afghan invaders.  You see the soldiers, you see the fervour, you see beautifully choreographed fight sequences. What you don’t see is Parineeti Chopra. It’s a two-scene appearance in the 3 minute long trailer.

First Bharat, where Katrina Kaif was omitted out of the trailer altogether and now Kesari. Are we the only ones seeing a pattern here?  Movies with patriotic overtones have inversely proportional screen time to offer the women.

Directed by Anurag Singh, the movie is due to hit the screens on 21st March and hopefully we will see more of Parineeti than just in a song!
