#Appturday: We Tried Out The UberEATS App So You Don’t Have To!

Logistics mega brand, Uber, surprised us all with the launch of their new app UberEATS this week. UberEATS takes on local brands like Swiggy and Scootsy head on, in an aim to conquer the food delivery service market. Here’s what happened when I tried the app myself.

First up, it was an easy-breezy download, which was followed by a simple-to-use, slick UI. So far, so good. But then, everything went downhill, at an alarmingly fast rate, might I add.

Issue number one: I was hangry at work, FYI our office is situated in up-and-coming Kurla, but unfortunately UberEATS does not deliver to that address, yet. With my curiosity piqued, I started testing other suburban areas, to see whether or not UberEAT’s service properly extends to the ‘burbs.

Apart from Bandra and Juhu, none of the suburban areas were covered. I mean, what gives?

So I hustled and ordered in at home, in Bandra, and I had access to some great restaurants in areas such as BKC, Mahim, and Khar, too. Quite cool. Also, how cool is it that you can avail Rs 50 off on your first 5 orders?

Best part I came across is that there is no difference in the price between the restaurant’s menu and UberEATS. Unlike other providers, UberEATS charges a flat Rs 15 charge on each menu and has no minimum order amount.

Since the delivery service is powered by Uber, I found that the whole delivery process was seamless and, more importantly, punctual AF. Although I was annoyed that UberEATS isn’t available in most regions of Mumbai, I would say that it’s a good app that I’ll probably revisit when I’m not in the ‘burbs. Till then, I hope they expand their selection of restaurants and will soon be available in regions apart from SoBo and Bandruhhh.

UberEATS is available for iOS and Android devices, and only delivers in Mumbai RN.
