Taapsee Pannu Says She Wouldn’t Have Gotten A Second Movie If She Was In Place Of Harshvardhan Kapoor. She’s Right

I seem to have developed a special kind of fondness for the present set of actresses that have been headlining in Bollywood. With a strong sense of knowing right from wrong and having the spine to call people out on anything they deem isn’t fair, actresses no longer mince their words now and we love it. And one such actress who has never shied away from calling a spade a spade and is doing it well is the Saand ki Aankh actress Taapsee Pannu, who recently answered a question at Neha Dhupia’s radio show, No Filter Neha and left us both in shock and suitably impressed.

Almost everyone from the Bollywood industry is carefully diplomatic when it comes to outing the truth about others or even expressing their own true feelings about fellow actors. In fact, even when people do try to tread that slope, they either often end up getting into trouble or intimidated. But not Taapsee, for she was straight as an arrow in her answer, when she was recently questioned about who she thinks wouldn’t have been able to move ahead in the line without his parents.

Not beating around the bush , the actress gave a crisp answer naming Harshvardhan Kapoor, son of actor Anil Kapoor and we had no reason to disagree. Especially since we had been the select few who had been tricked into watching his debut flop, Mirzya in 2016.

She said, “Whatever I have seen of him till now, I think it would have been pretty difficult to get a second film after a not so appreciated debut. If I would have been in his position, I wouldn’t have got a second film,” and sadly, it was true. Think about it, every year thousands of people come to Mumbai to try their luck in showbiz and spend years trying to crack their way in. On the other hand there are such star kids, born with a silver spoon in mouth and a fancy surname, earning them a free pass into the industry.  Where as other actors and specially actresses are dismissed into oblivion by directors and filmmakers for a debut that tanked, these guys often get second, third and even more chances.

There’s a chance that if he had walked into a random audition, he wouldn’t have made it to a call back, but because Daddy is a big star, he has another movie coming up two years later and is currently working on Abhinav Bindra’s biopic as the lead. The fact that industry is kind and generous to the star kids is no news. But then for every Harshvardhan, we also have a Taapsee Pannu who is proving that you don’t need a fancy surname to become relevant in the industry after all. But we can’t also ignore the fact that actresses like her and many others, need to work twice as hard to be able to be in a position where they can be in a place to say something like this.

Taapsee is currently working on a lot of projects and will be seen starring in a couple of movies releasing this December, like Womaniya and Tadka.
