Swara Bhasker Schools A Man On Consensual Sex, Says ‘It’s Not Wrong’ And We Agree

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but we will do anything within our reach to prove that rape is caused by everything else except the rapists. It could be caused by clothes, mobile phones, Chinese food and now, it turns out even watching a series could cause rape. As usual, some man decided that Swara Bhasker’s Rasbhari, which does not feature rape, is the reason men can’t keep it in their pants.

Now I don’t want to credit the man with bare minimum intelligence by saying he watched the movie because he probably hasn’t and given that Swara Bhasker’s Rasbhari does not have any rape scenes but does have consensual sex scenes, we are pretty sure the whole idea of a woman owning her sexuality has made the man very uncomfortable like you know, a wedgie that you simply can’t seem to pull out. Ever since Swara Bhaskar was shown touching herself in Veere Di Wedding, people have chosen to point out that she’s responsible for all the rot in everywhere. Because if not, are we going to like, actually blame the rapists for being absolutely depraved individuals? We would rather not.

And why blame the criminals when you can blame an actress playing a role? Here’s what transpired. On Sunday, 4th October, Swara Bhasker, like many others was being vocal about her disdain for the perpetrators of the crimes in Hathras and Balrampur. A guy, in a now deleted tweet, as reported by HT, said,“The whole nation is ashamed. This is Swara Bhasker. Shows like Rasbhari serve sex, then preach about violence against women increasing.”

We are not sure how this man came to the conclusion or why he thought Swara Bhasker’s Rasbhari was the single source of inspiration for these crimes because rapes have been happening way before the movie released but clearly logic isn’t this guys’s strongest suit. Of course, Swara Bhasker isn’t the kind to entertain such kind of rubbish and said,

She also mentioned in the tweet that sex between consenting adults isn’t rape, something that needs to be drilled into everyone’s head, lest they think Swara Bhasker’s Rasbhari is some sort ode to rape.

This is exactly where the problem lies. We simply (and by that we do truly imply that it is men) cannot see the crime for what it is and choose to look away even as the answers stare us in the face. Just so we are amply clear, nothing causes rape except the rapists. With their twisted sense of power, show of caste, it’s a convoluted, messed up logic and it proves that these men will fall to any level, even if it means raping another human being in a way that will make every hair on your body stand up. And no, Swara Bhasker’s Rasbhari or anything else has nothing to do with it. Let’s blame those who should be blamed- the rapists.
