Surveen Chawla AKA ‘Jojo’ Reveals She Wants To Work More In The Digital Space Because TV Content Is Not Interesting
Over the course of last few years, there has been a considerable shift of actors and celebrities from small screens to the silver screen, and to the digital space. We get it though. We, the audiences, are moving away from our TV screens and are splayed across our bed wanting to watch our content on our phones and laptops. So obviously, actors are moving mediums too. And one of the very recent ones to have a little more than a change of heart, rather a change of genre is ace actress Surveen Chawla, who currently basks in the glory of her brilliant performance in the second season of Sacred Games.
Playing the role of a badass and not your average next door girl, Surveen Chawla in the role of Jojo Mascarenhas has impressed us with the kind of diversity that she has brought to the table, especially after we had only seen her donning very reserved and stereotypical roles in shows like Kasautii Zindagi Kay and Kahiin Toh Hoga. However, in a recent revelation, the actress has admitted to not considering doing television series any longer.

The actress commented, “Television shows in our country are still not experimenting much, so that’s out of the list for me. It’s not satisfying at all. As far as films go, today content is changing and there’s a lot of experimentation that’s going on with new age writers and filmmakers. So, everybody’s focusing on content for a change which is great.”
The actress, in the same vein also said, “24 is almost like a film. The whole approach, unit and team – everybody is from films. I am not looking at doing fiction on TV. (I’m) not being demeaning or looking down upon TV, but television is not up my alley in terms of fiction for sure. Fiction for me, apart from 24, is a big no-no.” After the likes of actors like Karan Singh Grover and Hina Khan, Surveen Chawla is next to follow suit.
For now, we are sitting tight to see how the actress delivers on the show 24, whose first season was a raging success and with a cast as stellar as this, the second season seems like it would be a hit. Guess we’d have to wait and find out!
