Sonakshi Sinha To Play The Role Of Paralympic Deepa Malik In Her Biopic And That’s Exciting!
Yesterday, we wrote a story about how Parineeti Chopra was sweating it out to nail her role in Saina Nehwal’s biopic. Since biopics are the flavour of the season, it looks like another actress will get a chance play the on screen persona of a real life person. Actress Sonakshi Sinha is all set to play the role of the paralympic silver medalist Deepa Malik in her biopic. Sonakshi Sinha will unravel the journey of the athlete, who is the first Indian woman to win a medal in Paralympic Games and a silver medal at the 2016 Summer Paralympics. Not only this, Deepa Malik has won 54 national gold medals and 13 in swimming, shot put and javelin throw at the international level.
Now this is a story we all wish to know more about! Interestingly Sonakshi and Deepa had met earlier in 2016 at an event and both couldn’t stop fangirling over each other. Deepa had tweeted about the actor and wrote, “Sonakshi Sinha it sure was a fan moment. Great receiving the award from the Bindaas girl. Blessings and success is wished today and always.” Sonakshi Sinha also replied and tweeted, “Ma’am it was a fan moment for me!!! thank you for being you and radiating so much positivity! Truly an inspiration…Deepa Athlete.”

Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment were planning to come up with a biopic on Deepa Malik for a long time and now that they have found their leading lady we can’t wait to see the achievements of incredible athlete come alive on celluloid. Ritesh in an interview with Mumbai Mirror said, “I had watched videos of her and knew that her life story was unreal, but when I met her and she let me hold her medal, the sheer weight of the silver gave me gooseflesh. As she sat in front of me, there was nothing differently-abled about her. She was empowering, a pillar of strength, and I knew that we needed to take her fight to the big screen.”

On the movie front, Sonakshi will also be seen in the multi-starrer film Mission Mangal and Dabangg 3 alongside Salman Khan.
