So No One Is Going To Talk About How Boring The Finale Of Koffee With Karan Was?

Season 6 of Koffee With Karan came to a close this Sunday. Kareena Kapoor Khan and Priyanka Chopra were on the couch, they’ve had history, and it’s Karan’s chat show. It had all the makings of  a potential inferno unleashing. However, and we can’t be the only ones thinking it, this was an episode that we could barely get through.

On their own, both Kareena Kapoor Khan and Priyanka Chopra held their own, coming across as confident, sassy women that they are. However, together on the couch, where till now fantastically scandalous revelations have been made, the women couldn’t hold our interest. I was scrolling through Instagram, watching stories of people I haven’t in a while and that’s saying something.

Look, we have to hand to Karan, he tried. Even dug up some old, mean things that PeeCee and Bebo said about each other about accents and boyfriend and all that but the women didn’t have anything unflattering say about each other. It may look like we are spoiling for a fight, you know, two women, cat fights, come on, something’s got to give but we aren’t. The episode was a let down because of the complete lack of entertainment it offered.

For starters, the chemistry between them was awkward. Their PR machinery had kicked into overdrive, their managers schooling them through the questions quite obviously so they don’t step on each other’s, the industry’s, the anybody’s toes, that at one point, we were willing to watch paint dry than the show. They avoided every pointed question, indulging in nonsensical chatter, which they wholly pretended (ace acting skills) was hilarious but made us roll our eyes so back into our head we saw the colour of the inside of our skulls.

We are not quitters, so we did sit through the entire show. Through the rapid fire and the gaming bit and everything but the crumbs in my couch had more of my attention than anything the ladies said.  I kid you not, the bit that got me all excited was the lights doing their thing (Kareena Kapoor shared by enthusiasm for this!). On a show that’s known to make friendships, sour relationships and serve up delicious ‘gup’, this one was the equivalent of a salad served with no dressing and too many greens. And no taste. Basically, this was a coffee that went cold.

If we wanted to get bored, we would watch teleshopping. Unless you are like me, where you are very amused by the ongoing on those things, in which case, I am judging you.

Seen it all?

We’ve got more!
