Shilpa Shinde Challenges Federations To Try And Stop Her From Going To Pakistan. We Suggest They Just Let Her!

First things first, allow me to issue a disclaimer to the fact that I am a patriot and love my country. And with the kind of a job that I have, of a writer and all, there are times when such love or other times, hate, finds an outlet in my words. But even with emotions that rise and simmer down with what is currently happening in the nation, I never fail to acknowledge the fact that I may belong to the field of journalism, but there are topics and claims that even I would prefer to steer clear of, especially the ones involving the tumultuous state of affairs between India and Pakistan. A concept, that Shilpa Shinde had no qualms about landing right in the middle of.

In a recent uproar over the ban of singer Mika Singh, who performed in the state of Karachi, Pakistan, Shilpa came to the fore to show support to the singer. And she didn’t stop there. In what seemed like a passive aggressive dig at the All Indian Cine Workers Association and Federation of Western India Cine Employees that banned Mika Singh, she issued a very warbly statement about how artists should be given a free hand. Now, this was right after India’s retraction of article 370, and the nation was just taking in the news. As it still is.

The Big Boss 11 winner, Shilpa said, “I think rather than criticising you should be proud of the fact that Mika Singh has been called to perform there despite of them having good singers and musicians. If our government is giving him visa who is federation to stop him from performing in Pakistan. How can they stop him? I would like to tell the federation that you have much bigger problems in the industry to deal with, please try and solve them. You haven’t been able to put a regulation on working hours of artists and crew members. People still work for 12-15 hours when in your rule book it says 8 hours shift. We are bringing shame to our own artistes by commenting about them.”

She further went ahead to say, “Do I need to say Pakistan murdabad to show my love for country? If tomorrow federation decides to ban me. I will perform on-road, let me see how will they stop me,” emphasising on how she doesn’t need to bad mouth another country to show patriotism for hers. To which we agree, but only to an extent.

The thing is, right now is perhaps the worst time to sit and dissect everything that is happening around the country, especially when you’re still unsure about all the facts. We are being fed only part of the stories in this political divide and it would be unfair to take the liberty to slam anyone without having a complete view of things. She doesn’t need to chant anti-pakistan slogans to support India, but we still don’t understand her statement of challenging the federations and authorities to stop her from going over the border. Especially when it paints a very aggressive picture.

We, as a country need to put up a strong and united front and even if we have qualms about the current state of affairs, as we’re entitled to have. The sensitivity of the dynamics between the two nations call for an extra measure of thought before uttering things out of our mouths that can only make matters worse. So, all things considered Shilpa Shinde, maybe you should stop speaking. Like, right now.
