Shilpa Shetty May Be Returning To Bollywood After 13 Years But She Was Never Out Of Sight

By  |

When I look at my pictures from five years ago, I can tell time has passed – from the additional weight and dark circles that I accumulated over a period. But time seems to have stood still for Shilpa Shetty who looks as young and fit as ever. What went wrong with me? Not one extra wrinkle around her eyes or inches around her waist. Yoga and healthy living does wonders after all! Me? I binge on food and Netflix all night and it’s done nothing for my dark circles, except made them more visible. At this point, even concealers don’t work for me. So, I do go gaga over how well-maintained this woman is! Her last movie Life In A Metro released in 2007 and it doesn’t seem like she has been away from the silver screen for 13 long years. The fact that I have been stalking her on Instagram to try her Yoga poses, that end up in “The Grudge” position may have something to do with it. But mainly because she is a boss babe who knows how to stay in limelight without having to do movies.

The actress who never really left our minds, will be making a comeback with Nikamma alongside Abhimanyu Dassani and Shirley Setia. She revealed in Romedy Now’s The Love, Laugh, Live Show how this sabbatical was self-imposed and not because she wasn’t getting any work. “I have been a part of the industry and I continue to be a part of the industry somewhere or the other. You miss it when you miss the limelight, you feel like you are losing out on fame and people are forgetting you. I never missed it because I was still doing television. The sabbatical that I took was self-imposed and thought of,” Shilpa Shetty said. I wish I could go on a sabbatical too, but my bank balance has other plans.

When an actress gets married or becomes older, people just assume that she must not be getting enough work. Well, that used to be true in the 90s, when actresses got offered sister’s or worse, mother’s characters in films that starred men their age in lead. Today, Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor – the A-list actresses – are at the peak of their respective careers. So, I love the fact that Shilpa Shetty too is returning to the big screen!

Shilpa Shetty revealed that her career as an actress happened by chance. “Becoming an actor was luck by chance. I was about 15 years old and went for an event where a guy saw me and asked to get myself clicked. The next day, the photos were distributed on a set of a show and that’s when I started getting work,” she said.
