She’s Miss India Deaf 2018, But She’s Not Going Unheard!

She’s like any 20-year-old. Active on social media, vivacious and strongly opinionated. The only difference is that Deshna Jain is deaf. This is a tiny handicap in the otherwise full and fabulous life Deshna is living. She’s recently won the title of Miss India Deaf 2018.

Her video on The Quint is a beautiful celebration of her win. The video perhaps stands out the most for its portrayal of her win and her life in a fun way. You can see that Deshna is the kind of girl that enjoys living life to the fullest. There’s no tear-jerking drama about her handicap here. She’s cheerful, happy, and questions you on your long-held beliefs.

As she explains in the video, she’s active on Instagram, and has got quite the following. She would have been a dancer, if she wasn’t a model, she says. And, she also thinks women should get access to education so they can stand up for themselves.
