RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Said Women Can Make Their Own Decisions And We Think He Went To The Right Place To Get Schooled

Have you heard the phrase, once in a blue moon? I’m sure you have but have you witnessed such an event? Something so uncommon and shocking that you don’t actually believe it actually occurred? If not, then you’re in luck because we have one such incident for you. You know how our politicians are known to make some super idiotic comments about women? We have a politician today who was known for exactly that but has learnt his lesson and hopefully understood what women have been screaming about for years now. We are talking about RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, can you believe it? It seems like he is retracting his earlier statements and finally coming around to the idea that women aren’t just tools for men. Yes, that is indeed shocking and I shall help you collect your jaw off of the floor. We are very happy, yes, but we are also concerned that in a government that consists mostly of men he might be the only one coming around to this idea. We can only hope the others also went to get schooled at the same place as him.

Drishti Stree Adhyayan Prabodhan Kendra, an NGO affiliated with the RSS held an event to release the report on the ‘Status of women in India’ after their exhaustive study. At that event, RSS chief Bhagwat said that men can’t make decisions for women anymore, and that women don’t need men directing to progress anymore women have far better decision-making capabilities. *bursts into spontaneous applause* *cries tears of joy* *leaves a part of property to him*

He said, “Men cannot take decisions for women. Men should not think that they know better than women to guide them to make progress. Women have the power and are capable of decision-making.” I mean wow, after decades of redundant comments and utter stupidity I’m sure women everywhere are impressed by this comment, I know I am.

He went on to say that women ensure the house is running smoothly and peacefully dealing with all the problems effectively. Men can’t do this as nature has given them the quality to hunt and perform laborious tasks but not the ability to handle other things. This is where it gets a little dicey, he was trying to say that men and women have separate roles. He clearly has so much more to learn. There are several place where the roles of both the genders intersect and they are way more complex than he made it out to be. I mean, he’s a little caeveman-ish in his approach but hey, it’s something. Even a little growth is still growth.

Just a little reminder, this is the same man who back in 2013 made a few comments that triggered a massive controversy, he said, “A husband and wife are involved in a contract under which the husband has said that you should take care of my house and I will take care of all your needs. I will keep you safe. So, the husband follows the contract terms. Till the time the wife follows the contract, the husband stays with her, if the wife violates the contract, he can disown her.” Now do you see, why I’m impressed? I’m really intrigued to know what caused this major shift in beliefs for him, why a sudden change of heart after six years?

While Bhagwat was all about letting women drive their own progress, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that that women do not need just token participation. We agree with her too, women will not progress if their participation is just on paper or for the sake of tokenism. She says that, what women really need is access to education, health everything that women need to actually contribute which in turn leads to progress. She also goes on to add that, even though there are laws that make participation mandatory for women, they don’t usually go for it. Women are hesitant to leave their comfort and doubting zones. Now this the statement that doesn’t really sink in well, if women are given the right tools, and the social infrastructure, why wouldn’t they come forward?

All this is just big talk though at the moment. I really want to wait and see how much of this really helps the status of women in our country. If this exhaustive study that has been conducted and all the things that have been said here are actually put in to play, this could lead to a long awaited change in our country.
