Priyanka Chopra Said Zaira Wasim’s Decision To Quit Bollywood Was A Personal Choice. Let’s Leave It At That

These are exciting times for Bollywood. Some brilliant scripts and movies are being made, major releases are lined up to hit the silver screen soon, and most of them now seem to have a solid screenplay and open up important dialogues. And one such movie, that premiered at the Toronto Film Festival was Priyanka Chopra’s The Sky Is Pink, which walks us through the life of a girl suffering from a terminal illness. The girl is played by Zaira Wasim, who recently announced that she was quitting Bollywood for religious beliefs which you would think would be a personal decision but instead became a topic for discussion for the entire nation. About a few months ago the Secret Superstar actress, Zaira Wasim announced her retreat from Bollywood and the film fraternity, saying her faith and beliefs were being questioned by her involvement in the field. And while there were many who lauded her for standing her ground and doing what she feels is right, there were quite a few who showed their dissent over the young actresses’ decision, calling it a pressurized move by society.

In fact, during the recent screening of the movie at the Toronto film festival, there were also rumors of Zaira being in attendance, that did not go down well with the netizens, for they thrashed her for going back on her word of retracting from Bollywood, without even waiting to see if she really does decide to attend. Which she didn’t, but not like it was any of their business to comment on it anyway. Priyanka Chopra, who had been silent on the matter since then, finally spoke about Zaira’s decision in an interview with Mumbai Mirror and stressed on how it was Zaira’s ‘personal choice’, and she is entitled to have it.

The Sky is pink actress said, “It’s a personal choice. Who are we to dictate what someone should and shouldn’t do? She is an amazing actor who has done incredible work. We will always wish her the best.” As should all of us, too. What Zaira does or does not do is her own decision, and while we can have an opinion about it, there is certainly no need or point to take it personally and slam down the actress about it. Priyanka handled it as well as anyone could have. People really need to revisit the concept of ‘Live and let live’, and consider poking in a nose in their own personal affairs.

Meanwhile, the promotions for The Sky Is Pink have started as PeeCee is back in town. The movie is set to release on October 11, and we can’t wait to see how it does on the box office!
