Pankaj Tripathi Says Women Are Tight-Lipped About Their Problems And Don’t Share Their Trauma

From Kaleen Bhaiya to Madhav Mishra, Pankaj Tripathi has been making waves in the film and television industry by taking on some rather powerful roles that have managed to stay with us long after the curtains have closed. His acting prowess, accompanied with his impeccable choice of roles has made him the nation’s favourite and all so rightly. Especially after his latest release – Criminal Justice : Behind Closed Doors, a show that addresses the concern of marital rape.

In one such interview that talked along the lines of the show and the theme, actor Pankaj Tripathi was confronted with the topic of women and how often they might stay silent even in cases of being violated or dealing with trauma. Giving his own opinion on the matter, Pankaj Tripathi said, “It’s unknown to me why women keep quiet when they go through trauma in personal life. They are tight-lipped when asked to share their problems.”

He continued to say, “I don’t really know how to decode it but somehow, this [problem] still exists in our society. Even if we stay in liberal urban cities, there still are few sections of society where women are not vocal about their problems.”

This came after the kind of a role he adopted for the show Criminal Justice, whose plot explores the life of a woman, who was victim of an abusive marriage, enduring marital rape possibly for a long time before she ends up getting accused for killing her husband Vikram Chandra, a hotshot lawyer.

Talking about the series, Pankaj Tripathi shares, “In the series Madhav Mishra struggles to understand why Anuradha Chandra killed her husband and what was her real motive behind doing so!”. We are glad, such sensitive issues are being addressed through the medium of OTT platforms and web series, and at the least, creating awareness among people about such evils.
