Mumbai Rains Drive All The Stardom Out Of The City As Celebs Escape The Incessant Downpour
Mumbai, they say, is an intimidating city. This is the playground of all the stars, where talent comes to get recognised and where, if you move in the right circles, you rub shoulders with the world’s richest. It’s fast-paced, a thing the people living here enjoy but the something that visitors detest. But almost everyone will agree, there’s something really romantic about the Mumbai monsoons. They are romantic till they are not. Till the city goes from being gloriously drenched to imitating a less beautiful, but quite accurate scene of Venice.
And while there are some who embrace the weather in all its rage and humidity, there are others like a few B-town celebs who have decided to escape to more sunny locales. Also, schools are off in these months so it makes sense to take off to a family holiday about now.
From Taapsee Pannu flying off to Mauritius to enjoy the sunny clime and dips in the clear waters, to Bollywood’s favorite couple – Alia and Ranbir vacationing in New York, it looks like the world is flooded with B town celebs. Of course, Alia and Ranbir first visited Ranbir’s parents and later took to the streets, enjoying walking along without worrying about overflowing potholes. Sara Ali Khan and co-star Kartik Aryan are also away from the Mumbai showers, wrapping up the shoot for their upcoming film – Love Aaj Kal 2, in Himachal and can be seen enjoying the cool breeze amidst the scenic mountains. While Akshay Kumar and wife Twinkle Khanna have also decided to jet off to London with daughter Nitara this morning.
Shah Rukh Khan, too was spotted in England, attending his daughters high school graduation, and others like filmmaker Karan Johar, Kriti Sanon, Bipasha Basu and Monica Bedi have too been caught making appearances at the airport. Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan’s ex wife was seen arriving with their sons Hrehaan and Hridaan at the airport, all of which is confirming that the A-listers rather soak in the sun than in the unforgiving rains of Bombay.
And to be honest, we don’t blame them. It really is the perfect time for a mini vacation away from the city, especially with Mumbai having declared a public holiday today, after forecasting rainstorms. If it were up to us, we’d be fleeing to somewhere warmer ourselves. But with the flights being cancelled, guess all we have left to do is sit in the comfort and safety of our homes, sip on that famous cutting chai, and look through our windows as the rains wash down the city.
