MP Policeman Seeks Leave To Attend Wedding. Says Was Threatened By Wife With ‘Dire Consequences’ If He Didn’t Get It.
Most jokes circulated on Whatsapp, or printed in columns of newspaper under the ‘santa-banta’ category are as stereotypical as they get – usually, these revolve around husbands and wives . More specifically about insinuating how a wife is someone the husbands fear in a marriage and how they walk on eggshells when the wife is around. A stereotype that got boring very long ago. But this news of a MP policeman who was recently threatened by his wife, if he didn’t do as he was told has us chuckling because even outside of these jokes, this guy seems genuinely scared.
A little less scary than it sounds (for us, I mean), allow us to tell you upfront that this story is not about abuse. It is about intimidation, the kind that any spouse can have, even if the person is in the police force. Turns out, a policeman from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh recently filed a rather weird application of leave, when he wrote the reason for taking it as being met with ‘dire consequences by wife’ if he didn’t. Uh Oh.
Officer Dilip Kumar Ahirwar wrote in an application for leave to his superiors on December 8, 2020 that he needed leaves to attend his brother-in-law’s wedding that was scheduled for December 11 and would need to be gone for a total of 5 days. However, in addition to this, he also wrote, “Wife says that if I do not attend her brother’s marriage, the result will not be good. She has threatened me of dire consequences if I skip the wedding scheduled on December 11.”

And considering how menacing and intimidating a woman can be, especially when she has to get work done, we can imagine Dilip Kumar’s fright. Although, for this MP policeman superiors were not as amused with his candour, for they decided to file him for disciplinary action for his rather inappropriate application. Seems like a tough day for Dilip, both personally and professionally..
While we see how his reasons could be misconstrued as informal and unprofessional, we are just mildly amused that he sort this as grounds for leave. Maybe he should realise the importance of the relationships in his life and instead of his wife telling him they’re important, know that for himself.
