The Mission Mangal Trailer Is Out, The Women Are Playing Key Roles And It Will Give You Goosebumps

The Mission Mangal Trailer Is Out, The Women Are Playing Key Roles And It Will Give You Goosebumps

Once again today, in less than three minutes into my work, I was down with goosebumps and no it had nothing to do with the freezing air conditioning at office and everything to do with an upcoming movie whose trailer released today, literally a few hours ago and left us feeling deeply patriotic. The movie in context here is Jagan Shakti’s Mission Mangal.

The trailer was already garnering attention even before it released. Mission Mangal stars a pool of talented actors from Akshay Kumar to Vidya Balan, Kriti Kulkarni, Taapsee Pannu, Sharman Joshi, Sonakshi Sinha and South Indian actress Nithya Menen and has been the talk of the tinsel town ever since it’s first look poster was revealed. At that point, we were disappointed that the poster had Akshay Kumar occupying the most space. The other half was reserved for the six women, and we were heavily critical of this.  But then the trailer came out and we were thrilled that the women are taking charge, leading research and playing key roles in this movie.

The trailer starts with a dedication to all the scientists and great minds at ISRO, takes us through a quick round about of events and failure and ultimately a vision that led to the Mission Mangal, the first of its kind Orbiter Space mission to Mars. From Akshay Kumar being shown in a character of the one who gets the team together to Vidya Balan in the role of the Project Director, the trailer briefly introduces us to the scientists who were central to the mission’s success.

This is a movie that brings together science, patriotism, drama and thanks to the actors, a sense of subtle humour that we totally appreciate. The 3-minute trailer set in 2003, engrossed us till the last second, leaving us at the edge of the seats wanting more. From showing us the kind of problems that were there to the idea of going to Mars to actually making it happen, it comes off as a tale, and one that needed to be told, about the brilliance that is ISRO. But more than that, it walks us through the lives of these young, ambitious and absolutely brilliant women, who alongside of managing their homes, were pivotal to creating this milestone in India’s history.

The film is set to release on Independence day, a day that is more than befitting for letting the world in on one of the most successful and proud space missions of the world, and if the trailer is anything to go by, it is going to be one hell of a ride, with some profound screenplay and impeccable acting.
