Meet The #HauteSquad: Japleen Kaur
So we’ve turned 1 *yay*! And now, FINALLY, we’ve decided to introduce the geniuses behind Hauterfly… ok, we’ve decided to introduce you to the #HauteSquad! So here’s your inside track into who brings you your favourite stories and the madness that goes on at Hauterfly HQ.
She does a mean imitation of *every* member of the team; she is loud, hilarious, and clearly quite the bombshell. She’s always bursting with ideas and is super possessive about her lifestyle section. Meet the youngest, brightest spark of the #HauteSquad, Japleen Kaur
So what exactly is it that you do?
Apart from making my team laugh all day long, I’m in charge of filling up the lifestyle section on the website. Everything from travel, décor and food to tech, DIY, latest news, and social trends, I write about all the cool stuff! I even write about Harry Potter! Can it get any more amazing?
What were you doing before this?
Actually going on treks and camps, rather than just writing about them. Oh, also trying to graduate.
How did you get started at Hauterfly?
The lovely Social Media Manager, Farozan, was my mentor at my previous workplace. She recommended me to Zahra and here I am, annoying the hell out of everyone. *evil grin*
What’s the favourite part about your job?
I get to write about everything I LOVE! At one go, I can reach Iceland or try out a new dish or even get some quirky décor ideas. Seriously, not a single second of it is boring. With a great team that has become like family and an office that has the prettiest terrace, even my Mondays have become chirpy!
And the least favourite?
Okay, I lied. I dread writing shoppable stories. Like I go into a mini coma mode when I have to curate one. And the speed of the internet — takes us back to when Fred Flinstone was the shizz.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Hermione Granger. That girl is goals of all kinds.
What’s the one piece of advice you’d give someone who wants a job like yours?
Be passionate and find an element of fun in every story that you do, otherwise the workload will just break you. Talk, socialise, and voice your ideas, and don’t be afraid of making mistakes. Also the most important thing — keep an eye on what’s trending!
Tell us something weird about you.
I have to tell you only one? That’s tough. I am 21 and I sleep with my lights on, every night. Every time I hear someone say hello on the phone, I have to shout out the reply, even if it is a stranger. And I can never pose for a serious photo, EVER. 🙁
