Meet Ajanta Mahapatra, A ‘Female Traveller’ Who Has Visited Over 68 Countries Around The World. She’s Living The Life

Inspirational author Rachel Wolchin once said, “If we were meant to stay in one place, we’d have roots instead of feet.” This is one of my favourite quotes of all time. Thanks to my Sagittarius soul, if I could, I would be a professional traveller. But hey, that seems to be everyone’s dream (or claim on dating apps!) nowadays. However, it’s not an easy goal to accomplish. I mean, getting paid to do the most fun things has to have many takers, right? Which is why, when I read about women like Ajanta Mahapatra, my jaw drops to the floor while I vacillate between feelings of awe and envy.

A female traveller, who is known for itinerating around the world in a saree, Ajanta Mahapatra, is an inspiration to many. She has already voyaged across 68 countries and here I am, walking swiftly between my bedroom and kitchen while making Goa plans that will never materialise.

Ajanta’s heart is set on exploring the beauty this world has to offer. According to a report in HT, her motto is to, “keep the fire of travelling alive and kindle the same in others’ hearts.” Ajanta Mahapatra is known as a ‘female traveller’ and she has always tried to inspire other women to get out there and see the world. In the same report, HT quoted Ajanta saying, “Life is short and so is our age!”

Her dream of traversing the world started at a young age. She has been on the move and she always does it in a stellar saree. Before travelling to any country, just like us, she too does her research on places to visit. Besides her love for peregrinating, she also enjoys reading about different places and their unique features. We just say carpe diem, she is actually living it.

As I said earlier, being a globe-trotter is my fantasy. Ajanta Mahapara is proving that this fantasy might actually be possible. Her story is giving me all kinds of wanderlust. She is an inspiration to us all.
