Man Pushes Pregnant Wife Off Cliff After Clicking A Selfie. And He Did For Insurance
We’ve seen it in old Hindi movies, we’ve read it in fictional novels that end with a surprising twist, and we’ve also seen it in Ekta Kapoor serials, but where we did not expect to see this is in the headlines. We are talking about the case where a Turkish man took a photo with his pregnant wife, only to push her off the cliff just moments later for reasons that were as disappointing as the act.
Hakan Aysal, a Turkish man aged 40 years old, has been recently charged with premeditated murder more than two years after the death of his wife Semra Aysal, 32, who died tragically after falling off of a cliff. Up until now, the story that was told to everyone was simply one where Semra must have tripped and fallen into her ill-fated death. But turns out, there is more to the story.
This could have been a perfect crime. No one was around, it was a tourist spot and the couple was there strolling in a scenic part of Mugla province, in Turkey’s southeast area and even clicking pictures. No one could have guessed that just moments after that picture would be taken, the husband would push his own pregnant wife off the cliff. However, he overlooked one thing that ultimately caught up to him 2 years later.

The incident that took place in June of 2018, finally met its end in November after it was discovered that Hakan Aysal, had taken out a life insurance policy out for his wife not long before the tragedy befell the family. The indictment stated, “In line with his plan, the defendant took out personal accident insurance on behalf of his wife, with a guarantee of 400,000 liras (A$74,000), with the sole beneficiary being himself.”
With 74 thousand dollars as motive, the man didn’t care for his wife or the fact that she was 7 months pregnant with his child, before murdering her in cold blood. A little while after the incident, Hakan simply went to cash the pay out, but little did he know that most of the times, what goes around, does come back around too. The man is currently facing trial and if he is found guilty, will be subjected to life in prison.
