Louis Vuitton’s Parent Company LVMH Is Going To Be Producing Sanitisers And Will Distribute Them Free Of Cost To Health Authorities. This Is The Need Of The Hour

By  |

There is no way I can be truthful and say that everything is going to be okay. I really wish I could, but there is no way for any of us to say for sure whether this coronavirus storm will calm down or get worse. What I do know is that our leaders and all the other world leaders are doing everything in their power to contain this outbreak and honestly, that is all we can do right now.

March has been excruciatingly horrid for us. The virus that was still making its rounds mainly through China, Japan and Korea and a handful of other countries suddenly spread to 110 countries. Up until now, it has claimed the lives of around 7,500 people and infected 188,298 (and counting) people. The silver lining in all this? Around 80,000 people have recovered from this deadly virus.

But that is not stopping people from losing their shit right now. There is rampant panic everywhere, people are running from pillar to post to ensure that they don’t run out groceries. There is a toilet paper shortage in the USA (what!?!) and obviously sanitizers and masks (which are of utmost importance right now) are running out rapidly.

It is no secret that very recently the epicentre of this pandemic has shifted from China to Europe. This means that almost all European countries, especially the ones in and around Italy are on complete lockdown. Amongst all this, the shortage of sanitizers and masks has proved to be a huge issue. In times like this, Louie Vuitton’s parent company LVMH has stepped in and said that they will use their perfume line to produce hand sanitisers for the public.

We know what you are thinking. That this is a horrible time to be taking advantage of people. But that is not the case.  Though being produced by one of the world’s largest luxury brands, this sanitisers will not be sold at exorbitant prices. In fact, these sanitisers will be delivered to health authorities free of charge. Yep, LVMH is giving away sanitisers for free to help curb the shortage and this is such an awesome and much-needed move on their part.

In a statement, the French luxury conglomerate said “LVMH will use the production lines of its perfume and cosmetic brands… to produce large quantities of hydroalcoholic gels from Monday.” They further added, “LVMH will continue to honour this commitment for as long as necessary, in connection with the French health authorities.”

France is currently facing a major crisis since they have around 5423 confirmed coronavirus cases and around 127 deaths.

Governments all around the world are calling upon major brands and manufacturers to produce items of necessity which can run out soon if the coronavirus outbreak continues to spread at this speed. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson asked UK engineering firms to manufacture ventilators for the National Health Service.

In February, when China was experiencing the eye of the storm, electronics giant Foxconn stopped making Apple iPhones and switched to making surgical masks. This really allowed China to not run out of masks when the dire need for them arose.

These should set an example to the rest of the giant companies with the resources to manufacture products quickly and in bulk to step in and help out. What LVMH is doing in France is a great example of this.
