Here Are 5 Reasons Why You Need To Know Deepika Rajawat
You know what’s scary in this country? That despite the whole of India staging protests, shouting slogans and showing their anger, the perpetrators of the crime still have support. And that they would have the audacity to show their strength against a woman who is speaking for Asifa who simply cannot speak for herself anymore. That’s got us worried.
And not just us. Asifa’s lawyer, Deepika S Rajawat has us worried about her safety. A couple of days ago, he told ANI, ‘I don’t know till when I will be alive. I can be raped, my modesty can be outraged, I can be killed, I can be damaged. I was threatened yesterday that ‘we will not forgive you’. I am going to tell SC tomorrow that I am in danger.’
Deepika is not easily silenced though. Here are 5 reasons to watch out for this powerful woman.
1. She actually approached Asifa’s father when she suspected foul play in this case!
She didn’t wait for the parents to come to her, she approached them instead.
2. She is Chairperson of the NGO ‘Voice for Rights’
The organisation has been involved with human rights and their violations in Jammu.

3. She’s trending, for all the right reasons
She has been in news for this particular case, but also she’s the perfect image of a strong, powerful woman. Someone we can all look up to.
4. She’s done this before, and there’s no stopping her
This is not Deepika’s first tryst with a case where she has been threatened. Earlier, she had taken up the case of a 12-year-old girl who died under suspicious circumstances at an advocate’s house. She fell out of favour with other lawyers during this time as well.
5. She’s gives us hope
In a country where the weak are voiceless, Deepika is fighting a brave battle, and she gives us hope that all isn’t bad. That, perhaps, we’ve a tiny ray of hope that will deliver justice.
