Kanye West Opened About How He Overcame His Sex And Porn Addiction. We Appreciate His Honesty
The thing about addictions is that they are like quicksand. Once you are stuck pulling yourself out of there becomes your own personal quest. The trick though with addictions is that most of the time you’re in complete denial. The toughest part is acceptance but once that comes everything else follows through. No matter what the object of your fancy is- alcohol, drugs or like in Kanye West’s case sex, the process by itself to kicking the habit is not that different. What differs from person to person is the path they embark upon to reach there. Ahead of the release of his new album, Jesus is King Kanye participated in a tell-all interview for Apple Music Beats 1. They covered a plethora of topics like his interest in being the American President, spirituality and his relationship with Kim Kardashian. But from that entire conversation what really stood out was the revelation about his addiction to porn and sex. It’s an addiction, all the same, we really shouldn’t judge him for it.
He started off by saying that it was at the tender age of five when he first saw his father’s playboy magazine lying around. That was what kicked off a porn addiction that rapidly turned into a sex addiction. He said, “From age five till now, having to kick the habit and it just presents itself in the open like it’s ok and I stand up and say, No, it’s not ok.” Furthermore he added that when people are addicted to something they tend to ignore it and not deal with it completely. The only reason he could kick the addiction and regain control of his life was that he found God.
“It’s like that was such a script out of a rockstar’s life. My mom had passed a year before and I said some people drown themselves in drugs. And I drowned myself in my addiction,” Kanye confessed.

However, what really baffles me is that he actually asked people working on his album Jesus Is King to not have sex. “There were times where I was asking people to not have pre-marital sex while they were working on the edit,” he said. Now, it may have gone too far because what other people do in their personal lives isn’t exactly his business. But the joke’s on him because he can’t really go and check if they did indulging in coitus. That would be a bit too creepy and kinda illegal.
Kanye also revealed that it was when he was admitted in the hospital that he could really introspect. That is also when he started reading the bible and noting down verses from it. He now sees himself as the “Son of God” and thinks that it is his job to spread the word of the Gospel. Umm, okay then. You do you.
Apart from being a sex addict, he revealed that he was also a workaholic. But today, his top priority remains his relationship with Kim, which is the “greatest bond” in his life. I guess all’s well that ends well!
