Kangana Ranaut Says Using Fast Fashion And Big Labels Is Hurting Us. Hear. Hear!

10 to 12 years ago, tinsel town was very different, airport or gym looks weren’t a major concern, not everyone had a chance to voice their opinion and it might have been a slightly easier to be a celebrity. Whereas today, every celebrity has taken the fashion game to another level and there isn’t even one Bollywood star who is not dolled up or put together well, all the time! Most of the time, Bollywood celebrities look as if they have come straight off a runway but actress Kangana Ranaut, who made headlines for wearing a cotton saree worth Rs 600 has a different way of looking fashion and we are are listening.

The Queen actress, who is nothing less than a real-life queen in Bollywood feels repeating outfits is completely okay and she has also encouraged people to wisely consider buying fabrics and later recycle them. “I’m happy, people have noticed it. I tell the fashion industry we, as a generation, are over consuming resources. We got to be considerate. Also, the shaming (of people) for repeating outfits and recycling fabrics should be stopped,” said Kangana Ranaut.

Kangana Ranaut has redefined fashion and also made us reconsider it. She also spoke about how farmers are deprived of basic necessities and we can help that stop by utilising the resources wisely and not exploiting it. “They got to appreciate that spirit. Also, we spent so much on organic stuffs when they come from fancy stores. But we don’t really see the people — farmers and handicrafts men. They are so poor that they can’t afford pesticides and synthetic fabrics and are organic, by default. We don’t realise that. We got to appreciate that,” said the Judgemental Hai Kya actress.

So it was Rangoli Chandel, Kangana Ranaut’s sister, who shared a picture of the actress wearing a saree worth Rs 600 and the news went crazy viral for obvious reasons. “On her way to Jaipur today, Kangana is wearing Rs 600 sari she picked from Kolkata. She was shocked to know one can get such good organic cotton in this amount and it’s heartbreaking to see how hard our people work and how little they earn. Please support our own before international brands take away this also from them. Indian weavers,” wrote Rangoli.

During an interview at Lakme Fashion week, Kangana Ranaut said that there are lots of people in the fraternity whose fashion she admires. She told the media that Rekha, Amitabh Bachan and even Sonam Kapoor are the most fashionable stars today. Despite that Kangana Ranaut isn’t particular about the places who shops from, she said, “Just because it’s from the roadside (shop) doesn’t mean it’s not good. When you buy it from a big store, it does make it a different stuff.”

The talented actress has changed the way she looks at herself and no longer thinks of herself as someone without a voice.  Kangana Ranaut feels everyone can contribute to the society in a way. “I initially used to think the world is very big and I’m very small and I can’t make a difference to the world. But I don’t feel like that any more. I feel everyone of us can contribute to the world. Believing that we are irrelevant in this scheme of things is the biggest mistake that we make.” Kangana Ranaut concluded, “As a women, I don’t always have to stuck up to big producers, heroes and directors. I don’t believe in this. I feel as a individual I have a standing.”
