Kangana Ranaut Says Her Fight With The Journalist Was A Huge Mess. Maybe We Should All Let It Go

Kangana Ranaut is one actress who lives life on her own terms and we look up to her for that. And time and again, she has stood up for what is right and just, not bowing down to the pressure that people with connections in the right places may subject her to.  Recently, Kangana Ranaut had a heated argument with a journalist during the launch of her song from her movie, Judgemental Hai Kya. The whole incident became fodder for Internet theories and everyone was taking sides.

Kangana claims that she has never generalised media, but only condemned people misusing their position and power. She stood by her words and accused the journalist for mocking her film, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi which was based on the life of Rani Laxmibai.

In her defence the Queen actress said, “Analysing and criticising is done by journalists, it’s their work. I have always appreciated constructive criticism, because of which, I have brought changes in my life, work and acting.” But was it possible to avoid such a public showdown? Possibly. And because it’s Kangana, it’s always going to be blown out of proportion.

The incident was deeply condemned by media. The Members of the Entertainment Journalists’ Guild of India (EJGI) collectively decided to boycott Kangana and her film releases or promotion and demanded a public apology from her. The talented actress chose not to apologise but rather did what she thought was right by sharing a video on Instagram of her talking the whole incident from her point of view.

The controversy flared up further when the producer, Ekta Kapoor apologised but Kangana didn’t. There has been a lot of mud-slinging happening with Kangana and her sister Rangoli Chandel and while we are all for women standing up for themselves, we arent’ entirely sure this is the right way to do it. Especially Rangoli who gets irate at the mere mention of Kangana’s name, even in an appreciative tweet. It’s time for these ladies to dial it down, but more important for all of us to just forget the whole thing and get on with our lives.
