Kangana, Not Everyone Needs To Comment On Their Politics And That’s Okay

Kangana, Not Everyone Needs To Comment On Their Politics And That’s Okay

We love strong-headed women. Heck, absolutely adore them. For the most part, we will stand behind women taking up the cudgels for a cause. And for that that reason, we have loved and applauded the very fiery Kangana Ranaut. She’s bold and unabashed. She doesn’t mince words. She will call out BS and she will do it unapologetically. For all these reasons and more, we have loved the woman. But even as we are watching, things are starting to change, the comments are getting more outrageous and well, meant to instigate. For draw out a response. Almost like she’s playing to the gallery of controversy. Startling and unexpected, frankly.

She’s been in the news for various reasons post her recent release, Manikarnika, and has also dragged quite a few into a controversy. It started with her shaking Bollywood with her take on nepotism. We stood on the sidelines and cheered her on. When it was about voicing her anger against the Karni Sena and their threats, we stood in support. But when she went after Alia Bhatt for a reason that barely qualified as one, calling her KJo’s puppet, we didn’t quite get her peg. And now, that she’s gone after Ranbir Kapoor on a comment that he made on politics, a while ago. Pushing it too far, we think.

Kangana, recently thrashed the actor by commenting, “There are few actors in our industry like Ranbir Kapoor where he has been seen talking in an interview that ‘We have regular supply of water and electricity at my home so, why should I comment about politics?’ But I feel it is because of this country’s people that you are living in your luxurious home and you are travelling in your Mercedes so, how can you talk like that? This is irresponsible behaviour and I am not that kind of person.” Which you may not be, but nit-picking on celebrities’ personal takes, doesn’t quite make you a better person either. Bitter, rather.

We love that the woman has an opinion but to go after people for not wanting to state their opinion in the current political climate is an entirely personal call. Something that a public figure can choose to do. Do they owe you their opinion? No. Does a celebrity have to take sides or prove their patriotism? No.

We aren’t entirely sure what is causing Kangana to, what is seeming at this point, lash out but we hope this isn’t a PR stunt cooked up by a well-oiled team to keep her in the news. Because surely they can think of a better story than that?
