Judges Of TV Show Played A Sexist Prank. Why Was Judge Neeti Mohan Okay With It?

There should be place on the internet where you can put up quotes in font size 9000 about how sexism is not funny, hilarious or a joke. And this should be kept there so people can read it again and again. And in case they are still confused, services will be provided to knock them over the head with the concept and tell them how simple it is.

But we make do with a face palm and some twitter outrage. But it’s not like this stops them. The entire movement around objectifying women was brought down in one fell swoop after a ‘prank’ on the TV show Rising Star. The judges on the show Diljit Dosanjh, Neeti Mohan and Shankar Mahadevan, engaged in this ‘prank’ amusing themselves endlessly. Except, it was neither funny nor made sense. But then, seldom do Bollywood’s gimmicks, so maybe we should cut them some slack.

It started when two contestants in the recent episode called Neeti Mohan kadak and raapchik, terms aimed at objectifying her. Neeti Mohan seemingly took offence by saying “I am representing all the girls here and I don’t allow this. No one can talk to me, or any girl like this in this country or any country. We three judges don’t approve this, the show doesn’t approve this, the channel doesn’t approve this was of talking.” She then threatened the two of having them disqualified. At this point, you are rooting for her. Let us stop you right there. This was followed by raucous laughter. Wait, what?  The three judges then declare that no such offense has been taken and that they were only joking. Hilarious. Not.

Of course, netizens didn’t think it was funny as well and thank god for that.

We don’t know about singing, but if the three were auditioning for fairly decent and aware citizens, they’d probably all be rejected.
