Indore Police Starts Women’s Desk To Help Women Who Don’t Have Family Support Get Jobs. This Is Great

The thing about being born a woman in this deeply chauvinistic world is that it makes your life a living hell. To say the least. From the get go, we are swarmed with prejudice and have to live life tackling the gender bias that is thrown at us every step of the way. Fighting tooth and nail for every basic right, being a woman means being prepared to be shut down constantly. Except for the few times when people, or in this case – the police and the government, recognise our hardships and make an effort to contribute. Just as Indore police did, with its recent initiative with helping women get jobs.

Starting a help desk called the Maa Ahilya Swavlamban Desk, at the Women Police Station, Indore Police on Monday made an effort to help out needy women try to secure steady jobs in the city. Providing a help desk that will allow women – married and single, to reach out to consultants who will further help hook them up at  jobs that will give these women a chance to earn a steady livelihood, this initiative comes as a great step for women.

Launched along with a ‘Free Mask Bank’ on the same day, the police confirmed that it was inaugurated under the leadership of officials such as IG Yogesh Deshmukh, DIG Harinarayanachari Mishra and SP (HQ) Suraj Verma.

DIG Mishra also commented on this initiative and said that this was made to help married women and women who do not get support from their families. Especially ones who are separated from their partners and are suffering economically. These jobs would be provided on the basis of women’s skills and qualifications and are aimed at making women become stronger by offering them financial assistance.

A few women with the help of this helpdesk have been appointed in the parking of Treasure Island Mall, confectionary shops and even as a notice food officer. This seems like a promising act and we hope that more women reach out and are helped out.
