In Maharashtra, A Man Murdered His Wife Because He Got Frustrated With Her Illness
I spend a lot of my time daydreaming. Making up scenarios in my head that might never come true. Most of these daydreams revolve around my life once I am married. For instance, how my future husband would react if I was diagnosed with a fatal disease. Would he be like Landon Carter from Nicholas Sparks’ A Walk To Remember? Supporting and caring for me until my last breath. Or would he be like this man from Maharashtra who murdered his wife after she was diagnosed with a brain tumour because he was sick of her sickness? No, this is not one of my daydreams, more like a nightmare. But it actually happened in a village near Mumbai. How inhumane can a person be?
In Maharashtra’s Parbhani district, on Sunday, a 45-year-old unemployed man killed his wife, who was suffering from a brain tumour, after being unable to cope with her illness and take care of all her medical treatments. This is sickening.

The accused stabbed his wife with a sharp weapon in their home in Mudgal village, located about 500 km from Mumbai. He then left the house to dispose of the blood-stained clothes. That’s when the locals alerted the police who arrived just in time to seize the clothes and arrest this man. Pathari police station’s inspector Vasant Chavan said, “The accused said he killed his wife after being fed up of her illness and medical treatment.”
A case has been filed against his man for murder. And even if the charges stick and he does go to prison, it won’t change the mentality that this murder stemmed from. It’s heartbreaking to think about. This man stabbed his wife who was suffering from a brain tumour because he didn’t want to take care of her anymore. What if the tables were reversed? A woman is expected to dedicate her entire life to taking care of her husband, tumour or not. This murder is just so sickening.
